Abstract/Summary Complex formation and extraction of Ni(II) with 1,3,3-trimethyl-2-[7-(1,3,3-trimethyl-1,3- dihydroindol-2-ylidene)-hepta-1,3,5-trienyl]-3H-indolium chloride polymethine dye reagent and 1- nitroso-2-naphthol as organic ligand have been studied. The optimum conditions have been found: pH 7.2—9.5, c(dye reagent) = 1.25 × 10−4 mol dm−3, c(1-nitroso-2-naphthol in toluene) = 1.25 × 10−3mol dm−3. The Beer’s law is obeyed for nickel(II) concentration up to 5.0 mg dm−3. The effect of various foreign ions was examined. The new, simple, rapid, and sensitive (the molar absorptivity is 6.3 × 104dm3mol−1cm−1) procedure of Ni(II) determination has been suggested.
