Abstract/Summary Coordination compounds of Co(II) and Cu(II) ions with sulfadiazine have been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductivity, magnetic moments, and spectral studies. The IR spectra show that the ligand acts as a monovalent bidentate or neutral bidentate depending on the metal salt used and the type of the reaction. The thermal decomposition of the complexes has been studied by thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis. The activation energy of the thermal decomposition processes is determined. The electrical conductivity of the ligand and its metal complexes is determined at different temperatures.
